Ginger Honey Chicken (Starters)

Enjoying one of the usual Sunday evenings, I decided to make something different that day. I know the name might sound common, but I didn’t look up for recipes online. It’s just one of the experiments that turned out well. Cooking something new is like revisiting my taste for food. And experimenting only makes it better every time I am into it.

So this one is a chicken starter that I really liked, because its easy, quick and delicious. I love how it doesn’t change the chicken’s flavor and has a hint of ginger in every bite. It’s one of the ‘fill-a-plate-and-watch-a-movie‘ sort of starter.

Here is my spicy ginger honey chicken for you to try 🙂

Ingredients:

  • Chicken……………………..500 gms (medium sized)
  • Ginger……………………….20 gms (finely shredded)
  • Green Chillies……………4 (chopped)
  • Honey…………………………1 and 1/2 tbsp
  • Cornflour……………………1 tsp
  • Red Chilly Powder…….1 tspn
  • Turmeric Powder……..1 tspn
  • Tomato………………………1 (chopped)
  • Oil………………………………2 tbsp (I used olive oil)
  • Salt……………………………..to taste

Method:

  1. Heat a pan and pour oil in it
  2. Add chopped chillies and ginger to it and saute for 1 minute
  3. Add chicken pieces and mix it well. Keep it uncovered for 3 minutes
  4. Once the chicken splutters, stir and cover it for 3 more minutes on a medium flame
  5. Add cornflour powder, red chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt in a small bowl and mix it well. Add little water for a thin consistency, and then pour it over the chicken
  6. Once it is all mixed, sprinkle some water and cover it for 2 minute
  7. Add honey and mix well again. Let it cook on medium flame till the chicken is scarcely dark brown/burnt
  8. Once its done, transfer the chicken on a serving plate and garnish with shredded ginger  and few drops of honey
  9. You can also serve potato chips or similar with it

Since chicken doesn’t need a lot of time to cook, you’ll have enough time to prepare and serve this dish. Enjoy this recipe and let me know how you liked it (in the comment section below) 🙂

Thanks and have a great time cooking!
